EATS: Rocco’s Tacos
It’s no secret that I
am obsessed with love Mexican food. In fact, I enjoy all foods Latin. Except this. Annnnywaaay, on my Las Olas stroll, I was drawn to the energy coming from Rocco’s Tacos. Upbeat music pumping. Festive Friday afternoon crowd. Doors open to street-side patio. It was calling mi nombre!
I ordered a Pacifico beer and two tacos–pollo (pulled chicken in adobo) and cochinitas achiote (slow roasted pork). You select flour, hard shell or corn tortillas. I ordered soft corn. While I was waiting for my food, I checked in on Foursquare unlocking a fantastic special — free shot of featured tequila or house margarita with purchase of entree. Not a drinker? You can choose a free order of chips and salsa. Q: What’s more fun than tequila? A: Free tequila!
The tacos were perfect in every way. Both the pork and chicken were juicy and flavorful without being too spicy. The toppings: lettuce, cotija cheese, pico de gallo and pickled red onions were a fresh and tasty complement to the meat fillings. I am already planning my next visit so I can enjoy the guacamole that is prepared table side and the Mexican street corn! Rocco’s also offers salads, burgers, burritos, tamales, molcajete fajitas, enchiladas and a few shrimp and fish entrees.
